SWIRE GROUP
Hong Kong Maritime Museum, Hong Kong, 2021- 400sqm
The Project | Studio Cassells collaborated with the Swire Group and Swire Archives to design this family-friendly exhibition at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. Celebrating over 150 years of business in the city, the experience brings fascinating corporate history to life through historic artifacts, immersive imagery, and interactive displays that highlight Swire’s enduring commitment to the region.
Our Role | Masterplanning, Content Research, Concept and Development (environment, exhibit, graphics, and multimedia), Detailed Design, and provided design input throughout fabrication, overseeing multimedia production and installation.
Thematic Zones
The exhibition is structured into six thematic sections—including Shipping, Aviation, and Beverages—each utilizing a distinct color guiding visitors through Swire’s diverse industrial evolution and historical milestones.
Curated Historical Artifacts
The design showcases over 100 physical artifacts and rare archival images sourced from Swire’s private collection. Custom-built display cases and integrated lighting ensure these historic items remain the primary focus while telling a cohesive narrative of Hong Kong’s growth.
Sustainable Modular Design
To align with Swire’s commitment to sustainability, the exhibition was designed using high-quality modular components. This approach allowed for a visually striking environment that reduced material waste and facilitated a more efficient installation and take-down process.
Engaging Interactive Storytelling
History is made tangible through a series of fun, analogue, and digital interactives. From a large-scale magnetic ship-loading game to immersive photo-ops, these activities allow families to actively engage with the logistics and heritage of Swire.
