The Project | Studio Cassells and Story Inc. developed the Smart Nation PlayScape for Science Centre Singapore. This gamified exhibition uses immersive, hands-on play to demystify emerging technologies like AI, Biometrics, and Geospatial technology, making complex fields accessible. The gallery helps visitors understand how these innovations shape Singapore’s digital future.
Our Role | Masterplanning, Content Development, Concept and Development (environment, exhibit, graphics, and multimedia), Detailed Design, and provided design input throughout fabrication, multimedia production, and installation.
Personalised ‘PlayScape Passport’
Visitors can engage in an opt-in digital experience, collecting snapshots and digital stamps at various exhibits. This data culminates in a personalized digital ‘PlayScape Passport’ delivered via email as a souvenir of their learning journey.
Interactive Skill Challenges
Through various interactive installations, visitors test their skills against technology, such as trying to outsmart biometric sensors or navigating virtual environments. These challenges transform abstract concepts into memorable, active encounters.
Vision for a Digital Nation
Beyond technical explanations, the exhibition highlights the real-world benefits of innovation for Singaporean citizens - inpiring the next generation to see themselves as active participants in a digital-first society.
Gamified Learning Journey
The exhibition reframes complex subjects—such as Distributed Ledger and Robotics—into a series of immersive, gamified zones. This approach makes high-level scientific principles easy for visitors of all ages to understand and explore.
Demystifying Future Tech
The gallery focuses on making “invisible” technologies—like Sensors, UX Design, and VR—tangible. Each zone provides acomprehensive yet intuitive explanation of how these tools function and their vital role in a modern smart city.
