The Project | Collaborating with the museum’s curatorial team at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum, Studio Cassells developed a narrative showcasing China’s silver trade history and Chinese Export Silver. Appealing to collectors and the public, the design integrates rich paintings with rare artifacts to illustrate the key periods and locations of global maritime exchange.

Maritime Trade Journey

Visitors explore maritime history across thematic zones like Silver Currency, Silver Mountains, and East Meets West. These spaces illustrate how silver functioned as a vital medium for global international exchange.

 

Narrative Object Display

The design uses historical paintings and rare artifacts to provide deep cultural context. This object-led storytelling guides visitors through the specific economic influences that shaped the global silver trade.
