Cinematic introduction
The experience begins with a timed projection theatre, immersing visitors in a cinematic overview of Macau’s history and setting the narrative tone before transitioning into the main exhibition space.
A narrative journey through Macau
The exhibition unfolds as a chronological and thematic journey, revealing Macau’s evolution from trading port to cultural crossroads through layered storytelling, artefacts, media and spatial interpretation.
Eight themed zones
Structured into eight distinct zones, the exhibition explores key chapters of Macau’s history—covering trade, religion, architecture, entertainment and everyday life—allowing visitors to navigate the city’s rich cultural fabric at multiple scales.
Macau mapped through
space and form
At the heart of the gallery, a large illustrated floor map anchors the visitor journey, while suspended sculptural elements and three-dimensional interpretations of iconic landmarks translate Macau’s skyline and geography into a layered spatial narrative.
Historic figures brought to life
Key historical figures are represented through stylised bronze sculptures, adding human scale and personality to the exhibition while grounding broader historical themes in individual stories.
